BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING ✨️πŸ’–✍️

I spent a few hours today, with one of my closest friends from DB.  Was nice to have Lunch with her, on the 'Feast Day' of St.John Bosco.😊

The two of us joined the school together, way back in 2004; and over the years, we became more like 'Family'.πŸ’–

I miss a lot of things about that wonderful place, which I always called 'My Second Home'. But most of all, I miss the long conversations, that we used to have, about anything and everything.

We do meet occasionally, but it doesn't compare with seeing one another, every single day.

Thankfully, I will be meeting her again tomorrow, together with all my other colleagues. It will be quite an awesome 'Reunion', to see everyone again, after an entire year.πŸ’•

Since this has been an extremely 'Nostalgic' week for me, with DB being in my thoughts, quite a lot; I also remembered, how I actually landed up being a Teacher at DB.

It really wasn't my 'First Choice', although it eventually became, the 'Only Place' that I ever worked in.🀷🏻‍♀️

Having studied in two 'Jesuit Instituions' during my College years, my first preference was a Jesuit School in Bandra. My Mum was quite pleased with my choice, because she had been a Bandra Girl. Her brother had studied in that same school as well; while she and her sisters, had studied in the school, just across the road.

The job was mine for the taking too, because a Teacher was retiring that year, (who coincidentally also shared the same name as me). I remember the Principal telling me, that one Lynette would be replacing another, if I decided to join them.😊

However, it had just happened, that a few days before that Interview, (in the place where I was born, and where I lived, for the first few years of my life); I had also very casually, met one of the Supervisors from DB, on a train ride back home from College. Her daughter had been a childhood friend of mine; and when she heard that I was doing my B.Ed; she told me to apply at DB also.

So, even though I was more keen on joining Stanislaus; just because of that 'Chance Encounter' that day, I still applied at Don Bosco.😊

Looking back today, I guess that 'Unexpected Meeting', was just supposed to happen that day.πŸ’•

Since I had grown up with lots of childhood friends, who had been DB boys, I used to hear a lot about their 'Fun School'. I also had a couple of friends, who were Salesian Brothers, and I had always enjoyed, Interacting and Communicating with them. I think, because of all those 'Old Connections', joining DB, didn't seem like a bad idea to me either.😊

So, I told the Principal of St.Stanislaus, that I had also applied at Don Bosco; and since it would cut off the time of 'Commuting to Work' everyday, I would probably consider that, if I got in.🀷🏻‍♀️

The Principal in DB at the time, (who will always be my 'Most Favourite' Principal ever, and who also celebrates his Birthday today, on the Feast of Don Bosco), was more than happy to have me join them.😊

And so, I ended up becoming a part of the 'DB Family'. It was a decision, that I truthfully made, mainly to avoid travelling very far everyday; since I had done more than enough of that, during my 8 years in College and University, and it was quite exhausting.

Something that I decided to do, purely for 'Practical Reasons', ended up being the 'Most Wonderful Decision of My Life', because I spent an 'Extremely Rewarding and Fulfilling, Two Decades of being a Teacher', at DB.πŸ€—πŸ’ž

18 long years, when I was 'Blessed to Be a Blessing', to countless young children. Something, that not everyone, gets a chance to do, during their Lifetime.✨️πŸ’–

I often feel, that I would have enjoyed working in a Jesuit school too; since they had made my own College and B.Ed. years, the 'Six Best Years of my Student Life'.❤️

But the Salesians, are pretty good at making the whole 'Teaching-Learning Experience', very enjoyable, for the Students and the Teachers too.❤️

More than anything, they encouraged 'Creativity and Innovativeness', which is what I Loved most about the school. I got innumerable opportunities, to use and develop so many of my 'Talents, Gifts and my Creativity', both in and out of the classroom; for which I will be 'Forever Grateful' to them.❤️

Days like today, always take me 'Down Memory Lane'; and this walk, turned into quite a long 'Marathon Walk'.πŸ˜„ But I guess, there's nothing better, (every once in a way), than looking back on the 'Good Times' and the 'Happy Memories', that we've had along Life's Journey; and very Gratefully, 'Counting our Blessings'.✨️✍️

(I just found this picture somewhere on the Internet and thought it matched this 'Extra Long' post beautifully.)😊

UNFORGETTABLE, IN EVERY WAY ✨️πŸ’–

I spent a couple of hours, with an old DB Teacher Friend today. She now lives out of Mumbai, and was here just for a day.❤️

As I was talking to her, it 'got me thinking about' those extremely 'Close Bonds and Unforgettable Friendships', that I have shared with so many, many people, connected to the DB Family.✨️

Since Don Bosco was a neighbouring School and Parish, for most of my life, I've had Batchmates, who studied in the school, even when I was a student myself; and I interacted with many others, as part of Deanery Youth Activities or the Choirs, when I was in the Youth Group, or when I was singing in the Parish Choir.

Later on of course, since I worked in the School myself for nearly two decades, I made innumerable friends, from the extended Salesian Family everywhere, because of the school.

These 'Friendships and Connections', were not just in my own School, but in various 'DB Institutions', all over the city, across the country, and in other parts of the world as well.πŸ’ž

Each one of those Friends, will always remain 'Extra-Special', even though I hardly meet most of them anymore, except very occasionally.πŸ€—πŸ’–

Two of my oldest and probably, the first Salesian Friends I ever made, way back when I was a student in school, were Fr.Isaac Arackaparambil and Fr.Glen Fernandes. Both their Families, still live in IC.😊

They had only just joined the Salesians back then, and were studying at Don Bosco Lonavla, We met during the 'Vacation Bible Joy' in the Parish, when they came home for their holidays.

It is fun to listen to this video again, just a day before the Feast of Don Bosco. If any Friends from IC or the Salesian Family everywhere (Priests, Teachers, Students and their Parents), happen to see this post someday, I'm sure they will enjoy watching this. πŸ’•

WHEN DREAMS LIVE ON AND ON...✨️🎢

Don Bosco in our Hearts, we'll always sing,😊

The Melody, you taught our hearts to sing.🎢

Towards the end of January each year, almost every DB Institution has a very Festive atmosphere. Everyone is either preparing for the Feast Day Celebrations on the 31st, or for their Annual Days, because a lot of DB Schools and Colleges, have it at some time around this week.

I've been seeing many posts, from Friends in different DB Institutions, sharing all the preparations and the festivities. It made me feel extremely 'Nostalgic'.

So, I went and listened to a lot of the DB Songs that I've discovered, over the last two decades. These are a few of my Favourites.πŸ’–

BITTER-SWEET MEMORIES 🎢

(A FB Memory from last year, on this day, 28th January '2024.)

In a week, that has left most of us friends, completely lost in thought, and bewildered by how 'Uncertain' life can be, this concert put together by Winston Fernandes, in Borivali on the 26th of January, 2024, added some Music to all our lives. 🎢

'Pulse' is a group of mostly friends from IC, some of Winston's students, and this time, a few guest performers also.

They were doing this concert after a very long time, and since almost everyone is busy with work, meeting for a lot of practices was tough too. They did a great job though and everyone who was there, enjoyed the evening.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Like both Winston and Karen said, during the course of the evening: We owe our love for the old songs, to our Parents. They are the ones who first introduced us to Music, that was popular, well before we were even born.

It was nice to hear 'Pulse and Friends' singing songs across many genres, and especially a lot of the older evergreen melodies, that most of us love.😊❤️

Winston Fernandes (The brain behind the event, Vocals, Keyboard, Guitar, Voice parts arranger and lots, lots more)

- Savio D'Silva (Lead Guitar) - One fabulous Musician

- Roshan Thomas (Bass Guitar) - I was a 'Proud Teacher' as I watched Roshan play, because he is also one of my students from DB.

- Jeetvan and Suwellyn D'Cunha (Drums and Rhythm)

- Ryan Menezes (Keyboard)

- Bimal Chatterjee (Guest Musician - Alto Saxophone)

- Karen Rai Kingsellers, Melissa Serrao and Johncie Correia (Vocals)

- Trevor Loyola and Carmelita Fernandes - Guest Vocalists

The group did a 'Special Dedication' during the Concert, with very heavy hearts, to one of our dear friends (who is also a part of 'Pulse'). She lost both her husband (who was our friend too, and had only recently turned 50) and his mum, 6 days apart in the same week. In fact, his mum passed away on the day of the concert itself. We have no words to express how we feel, but we all share the pain of the Family.πŸ€—❤️

(What an unforgettable few weeks those were, last year in January!πŸ˜”

Two days ago, on Sunday the 26th, 2025, which was exactly a year later, we sang a couple of hymns, at both the graves of our friend and his mother,  together with many of our old Choir friends.

Time - It gallops along...

The Memories - They remain.😒)

THE CENTRE OF MY JOY 🎢

I heard this song, which was posted on the Gaither Music YT page earlier today. I liked it. So, thought I would share it.

THE CENTRE OF MY JOY 🎢

- The Collingsworth Family

(SONG LYRICS) 🎢

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy,

All that's good and perfect comes from You.

You're the heart of my contentment,

Hope for all I do;

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy,

All that's good and perfect comes from You.

You're the heart of my contentment,

Hope for all I do;

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.

When I've lost my direction,

You're the compass for my way;

You are the fire and the light,

When nights are long and cold;

In sadness, You are the laughter,

That shatters all my fears,

And when I'm all alone,

Your hand is there to hold.

And I sing,

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy,

All that's good and perfect comes from You.

You're the heart of my contentment,

Hope for all I do;

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.

You are why I find pleasure,

In the simple things of life;

You're the music in the meadows and the streams;

The voices of the children,

In my family and my home;

You are the source and the finish,

Of my highest dreams.

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.

All that's good and perfect comes from You;

You're the heart of my contentment,

Hope for all I do;

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.

You're the heart of my contentment,

Hope for all I do;

Jesus, You're the centre...

Jesus, You're the centre of my Joy.🎢

ALL THAT JAZZ 😊🎢

I saw this song yesterday, shared by a singer friend on her page. I don't know the person who composed and sang this song; but I thought it was so, so sweet.😊

If you read the description on this YT video, it will tell you, that Radha Thomas wrote this one for her 3 year old grandson.πŸ’•

He is probably just learning the letters of the Alphabet. So, she thought of gifting him a 'Jazzy Alphabet Song', that would give him an Education in Jazz Music and Musicians.✨️🎢

What fun to have a Grandmother, who does really cool things like this, for her Grandson. He may still be too young to understand every word in this song; but he will still pick up the tune and he will love the great video for sure.πŸ˜„

What a 'Special Gift' this is! I'm sure he'll love it even more, as he grows up. He will definitely learn a lot about Jazz Music and Musicians, at a very young age, because of this song.πŸ’–

PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY 😒✍️

Each time a loved one,

Leaves us Forever;

It's another reminder,

To hold on, Never.

For no one really stays,

The Journey ends, One Day;

This Life, just a stop-over,

Soon onward, on our way.

When, Where and How,

Only Heaven knows;

Young or old, early or late,

Someday, everyone goes.😒✍️

(Last year, on the 20th of January '2024, an old friend, who had just turned 50, disappeared from our lives Forever...Six days later, very sadly, his mum passed away too.πŸ˜”

It was an extremely difficult time for their Family, to lose two loved ones in just six days. But that week, left all of us friends, feeling 'Completely Lost' too.πŸ’”

We didn't meet and talk often, because I hadn't been singing with the Choir, for quite a long while; but we'd been friends for many, many years. Connected by our Choir, we had shared numerous happy times and memories - Choir picnics, get-togethers, sing-song sessions around the piano and lots and lots of delicious home-baked cakes.

A few weeks before he passed away, we had all just happened to meet, after a long, long time, at a Christmas Street Festival, when the singing duo Reena and Lindsay, sang in the Colony.

The picture we took, at that event, is one that I will always cherish.πŸ’– I'm so glad I took that photograph that day. Sometimes, we never know, when it may be the last time, that we may meet and talk to someone, or 'Smile for a picture, Together'.)😒

NOSTALGIC TIMES 😊🎢

(A FB Memory from this day, four years ago, 20th January '2021.)

The most beautiful selection of songs of all time. Live music from a wonderful ancestral home in Loutolim, Goa; with some amazing Goan musicians.😊

Selwyn Menezes on the violin is just so talented; and his amazing skill as he played that violin, made all the songs sound so magical. ✨️🎻

Siddharth Cota on guitar and vocals and Arvind Menezes on percussion (that is his awesome house in the background).

Together with Anika Noronha and the one and only, Carlton Braganza.🎀🎢

JUKEBOX JAMMIES - NOSTALGIA, GOA 🎢

(21st Anniversary of Nostalgia - Part 1)

20th January '2021 - Loutolim, Goa

The first part of the celebration of '21 years of Nostalgia' with Margarida Tavora, was one of my favourite JJ shows, because of the lovely songs (including many all-time Favourites), which they played and sang that day.πŸ’–

JUKEBOX JAMMIES - NOSTALGIA, GOA 🎢

(21st Anniversary of Nostalgia - Part 2)

20th January '2021 - Nostalgia, Goa

The Celebration continued later that same evening at 'Nostalgia', Raia Goa.

Beginning with some 'Live music' from some very gifted musicians in Goa, including Brian Bones on Bass, Edwin Fernandes on guitar, our very own musician from IC, Uncle Rockson Rodrigues on Keyboard and vocals❤ and Tony on drums.

If you missed Part 1 of the celebrations from Loutolim a little while back, make sure you watch the previous live video that I shared.That was truly awesome!πŸ’•

This is Part 2 from Nostalgia; with Anika Noronha and Carlton Braganza.🎢🎀

Ending with the awesome Selwyn Menezes on violin and Siddharth Cota on guitar and vocals.😊

If you didn't watch these 'Nostalgia' sessions back then, four years ago, listen now...Part 1 especially, was just so awesome.✨️ I guess, because it had many of my favourite songs, and that violin.πŸŽ»πŸ’•

NOW AND THEN 😊🎢

(An old FB Memory, from 5 years ago, on this day, 19th January '2020.)

The 'Beatles Tribute Concert' by 'Silly Point Productions' at St.Andrew's Auditorium today, (5 years ago, back in 2020) was really enjoyable.

A fabulous live band and four energetic performers, Hormuz Ragina, Sarosh Nanavaty, Naquita D'Souza and Arish Bhiwandiwala, who are all very, very good.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

They had the audience singing along and dancing too, as they performed so many of the Beatles Classics with so much enthusiasm. I would definitely love to hear them all sing again.πŸŽΆπŸ’•

Those who missed their shows so far, the next one is on 15th March, 2020 at the NCPA. If you enjoy the Beatles songs, DO NOT MISS IT.😊

(This was one of the last concerts I went for, before the pandemic forced all performances and shows to be cancelled. Their next 'Live' show scheduled for March that year, sadly didn't happen, till a few years later.)

BROTHERS TICKLING THE IVORIES 😊🎢

Two talented Musicians, that I greatly admire and have loved listening to, for close to three decades, playing a few beautiful Piano Duets.πŸ’•

Ben and Bosco Fernandez are two extremely talented Pianists, (originally from Bombay, and later moved to Auckland, NZ) who come from a family of Musicians.😊

Sharing some of the lovely duets, that they played together recently.

EVERY CLOUD HAS A 'SILVER LINING'.😊🎢

(A FB Memory from this day, last year, 18th January '2024.)

I remember feeling an 'Instant Connect' with Tammy, Roy and Gavin, when I heard them singing some Konkani and Portuguese songs on the 'Soul Fry Community', over three years ago. (Over four years now, in 2025).

The songs from the yesteryears that they sing, made me feel so nostalgic and just transported me to family sing-song sessions, during my holidays in Goa as a child.✨️❤️

If you were at the DPRC Lawns in Bandra last night, you would realise that I wasn't the only one there, who feels that 'Connection' with the kind of Music that 'Silver Linings' sing.

In fact, the songs they sing have appealed to so many people all over the world, that it has even taken them to other countries, for multiple concerts in 2023 as well...and in every single place where they perform, they are 'Loved' in just the same way. Large crowds of people turn up at all their shows, simply because of that 'Musical Connect'.🎢😊

More than the Music though, what I love most about them, is that there is a 'Genuine Warmth', in the way they meet and greet everyone, who comes to listen to them, wherever they sing. They value each person who makes the time to come for their shows, and who has contributed towards their musical journey, in the smallest of ways.

According to me, that is what makes everyone Love them so much and what makes them 'Special'.πŸ€—πŸ’•

ALL MY LOVE πŸŽΆπŸ’ž

As 'Coldplay Fever' hits the city of Mumbai, I went back to listen to this song, once more today.

I watched these videos a couple of weeks ago, and I think this was such a 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' way, for 'Coldplay' to pay tribute to an Actor, that many of us have loved as kids, in movies like Mary Poppins.😊

Was reading through some of the comments on these videos, and apparently the actor is 99 years old. Wow! He seems to be quite active, considering his age. Still dancing and jumping around.πŸ˜„

I haven't really listened to very many of the 'Coldplay' songs, but I think this one, is very sweet. These videos will be such a 'Cherished Memory' for his Family, when he finally bids Goodbye to this world.❤️

ALL MY LOVE 🎢

- Coldplay

'Until I die,

Let me hold you if you cry,

Be My One, Two, Three, Forever'.πŸ’ž

(I think those are the sweetest lines in the song.)

THE DIRECTOR'S CUT VIDEO

I loved watching the interaction between Dick Van Dyke and Chris Martin, in this video.😊

'For Now and Always,

Till the end of my days,

You've got All My Love.'❤️

(SONG LYRICS) 🎢

We've been through low,
Been through sunshine,
Been through snow,
All the colours of the weather.

We've been through high,
Every corner of the sky,
And still we're holding on together.

You got All My Love,
Whether it rains or pours,
I'm All Yours.
You've got All My Love,
Whether it rains,
It remains.
You've got All My Love.

Until I die,
Let me hold you if you cry,
Be My One, Two, Three, Forever.πŸ’ž

'Cause you got All My Love,
Whether it rains or pours,
I'm All Yours.
You've got All My Love,
Whether it rains,
It remains,
You've got All My Love.

La-la, la-la, la, lay
Whether it rains or pours,
I'm All Yours.
La-la, la-la, la, lay
That's all, all I can say,
Ooh, you got All My Love.

Oh, for Now and Always,
'til the end of my days,
You got All My Love,
You've got All My Love.✨️πŸ’–

SOULSHINE 🎢

SOULSHINE 🎢

- Playing for Change

SOULSHINE 🎢

- Allman Brothers Band

(SONG LYRICS) 🎢

When you can't find the Light,
That got you through cloudy days;
When the Stars ain't shinin' bright,
You feel like you've lost your way.

When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away;
Well, you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my daddy used to say.

He used to say, "Soulshine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Hey, now people don't mind,
We all feel this way sometime;
You got to let your soul shine,
Shine till the break of day."

I grew up thinkin' that I had it made,
Gonna make it on my own;
Life can take the strongest man,
Make him feel so alone.

Now sometimes I feel a cold wind,
Blowin' through my achin' bones;
I think back to what my daddy said,
He said, "Boy, in this darkness before the dawn.

Let your soul shine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah, now people don't mind,
We all feel this way sometimes;
You gotta let your soul shine
Shine till the break of day."

Sometimes a man can feel this emptiness,
Like a woman has robbed him of his very soul;
A woman too, God knows, she can feel like this,

And when your world seems cold,
You got to let your spirit take control.

Talking 'bout soulshine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain;
And now people don't mind,
We all feel this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine,
Shine till the break of day.

Oh, it's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah, now people don't mind,
We all feel this way sometimes,
You gotta let your soul shine,
Shine till the break of day.🎢

CRY WHEN YOUR HEART IS ACHING 😒❤️‍🩹

(An old FB Memory, written on this day, 4 years ago, on 13th January '2021.)

While I may seem like a person who smiles a lot and is happy all the time,😊 I have actually spent a life-time of practising this, every single day.

It's easier to 'Smile through your Tears', when you really take the time, to let the tears flow, without any limits. Maybe not for the world to see; but when you are by yourself.😒

I am so glad Luke Coutinho has actually put all of this into words now; and backed it, by scientific research too.

For many years, I have often tried to tell my students in school, especially the boys, that 'Crying' is actually a good thing, and a better de-stressor than anything else.❤️‍🩹

So, I'm more than happy, to share this; because Luke is someone I have followed for a few years now; and I know, through personal experience, that he and his team really give sound advice.

Do listen and then pass it on, because people really need to 'Learn to Cry', a whole lot more than they do.πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

LOVE LASTS FOR A LIFETIME AND BEYOND ✨️πŸ’–

This song was heard just about everywhere, in the years when the movie 'Titanic' had released. Till it reached a point, where it became a little irritating, because it was kind of overplayed. It is a good song though, with very meaningful words.✍️🎢

I listened to this 'Instrumental Duet' of the song, a couple of days ago, after a very long time.🎷🎻 I discovered these two musicians during those pandemic days, and I still listen to them occasionally. I like the harmony between the two instruments, in their version of the song.😊🎢

MY HEART WILL GO ON 🎷🎻🎢

- Daniele Vitale and Karolina Protsenko (Instrumental Duet)

MY HEART WILL GO ON 🎢✨️πŸ’–

- Celine Dion

SONG LYRICS ✍️🎢

Every night in my dreams,
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on.

Far across the distance,
And spaces between us,
You have come to show you go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I Believe, that the heart does go on.

Once more, you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

Love can touch us one time,
And last for a lifetime,
And never let go 'til we're gone.

Love was when I loved you,
One true time I'd hold to,
In my life, we'll always go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I Believe that the heart does go on,
(Why does the heart go on?).

Once more, you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on.

We'll stay forever this way,
You are safe in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on. ✨️πŸ’–
